Welcome to Our New
Online Newsletter
For a lot of years the Board has laboured under the burden of the costs associated with the printing and
distribution of our news journal, but when more than half of our annual income from membership fees is consumed
by the production it was time to change.
I do not think there is anyone today who does not have a mobile phone, for phoning, texting, e-mailing and
so on, It is hard to remember what we ever did without them. Hey, can anyone remember telegrams? And so with
all of this technology around us the time has come for the leap into the world of (what we used to call the
future) today!
I must admit it is not something that I do personally, but I am always amazed by the number of people who do
not buy newspapers any more, they read it all on the internet. The same thing with cameras, they are mostly
digital, stored on the home computer and printed on the same. Photo processors are all but gone, to say nothing
of 78rpm records or even 331/3’s. All Ipods and stuff now.
So you see people we are gone too, we have gone on the airways and all magazine articles can now be read on
the website with all of the trimmings as before. This first one is late I know but the processes are being put
in place now with the webmaster to accept all the details and set them up on the website.
Not to worry though, weekly e-news will keep everyone up to date so you don’t forget. The website will give
the long range dates of upcoming events to pencil on your calendars.
