Two words that make the nostrils of LSC Members and all Moreton Bay aficionados tingle with salt water anticipation!

The majority of our Members are boat-owners (although membership is not restricted to boat-owners, nor to any particular type or size of vessel) and quite a diverse range of vessels are honoured to fly the 'blue sky white star' burgee of our Club. The twinkling lights reflecting on quiet One Mile evening waters can mask the disparity of little ship shapes and sizes at anchor, daylight revealing the true scope of our boating membership.

Cruising events, both power and sail, are regularly conducted throughout the year, by LSC itself and in association with other clubs - such as Southport Yacht Club - and like-minded groups - such as the Interclub Bay Cruise. Traditional stalwarts of the LSC calendar include the New Year's Day 'Jib-and-Awning Fun Race' (where power defers to sail, sometimes in the unlikeliest and most hilarious of ways!) and Australia Day's 'Constitution Cup' (where wind undoubtedly rules supreme!). Our Champagne Cruise, usually held close to Mother's Day each May, is another popular calendar favourite.

Check out our LSCalendar events listings and make sure you subscribe to our monthly eNews to find out more!

But surely nothing whets the appetite more keenly (dare we risk a bad pun and say 'bated breath'?) than the prospect of dangling a line (or a reel or a pot) over the side. Our intrepid Fishing Club Captain leads a merry band of devotees of all ages - anglers and crabbers alike - who are well catered-for with monthly long weekend fishing competitions throughout the year. Many a proud youngster (and not-so-youngster) has had their catch, along with their feet, hands and smiling faces, in the pages of our eNews.

Check out some of the back issues of our eNews to wet your line!

Everyone comes together for the annual LSC Trophy Night each October, the evening before the Annual General Meeting, when the greatest catches (and tallest stories) of the year come up for peer acclaim. Thanks to our sponsors, supporters and hard-working volunteers, a delectable array of nautical booty is up for awarding (even if for sometimes the flimsiest of pretexts, for achievements which can't be weighed or measured) - wet your line by having a look at the October 2015 eNews to see what you've missed!

Over time, we will be adding more material to this section (as we can prise reluctant fingers away from tackleboxes and onto keyboards ... or pen-and-paper). To find out more about LSC's boating and fishing activities, please visit the directory page and get in touch with one of our Members.

We look forward to you joining us on the water, and in the clubhouse afterwards.
